Windows Host file location

C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc

Add the following lines to your hosts file to block outgoing connections:

127.0.0.1 xxx.com

First:  

Using SFC (System File Checker) and DISM (Deployment Imaging Servicing and Management) to Repair Windows 8 & 10

(in short: Hit the Windows Key + X, followed by A then DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth then SFC /scannow)
